What is Angular?
Angular 2+ (also referred to as Angular) is a typescript platform and JavaScript framework that helps developers build scalable applications. Maintained by Google, Angular’s primary purpose is to develop single-page web applications.Footnote 1
Frameworks help developers because they provide a consistent code structure and prevent programmers from having to rewrite code. Developers create Angular components using the framework, which are reusable custom elements.Footnote 2 The Angular package then allows these to be exported as web components, which are universal and can be migrated from one tech stack to another.Footnote 3
Angular includes libraries that allow developers to implement complex requirements like data binding, routing, and animations.
Angular versions
There are a few different Angular versions that are available to developers. Angular 2+ and AngularJS both serve similar purposes for developing single-page web applications, but they are structurally different.Footnote 4
Angular versus AngularJS
Angular…
is a TypeScript framework.
is component-based.
is supported on mobile browsers.
is used by Gmail and Upwork.
AngularJS…
is a JavaScript framework.
supports the Model-View-Controller design.
is not supported on mobile browsers.
is used by Netflix and iStock.
Angular applications
Developers can use Angular in many ways. Typical examples of Angular use include virtual reality applications, games, and form-based apps.
Angular operates on a site using a root module, called AppModule, that provides the bootstrap mechanism to launch the site. From there, each part of the user interface is defined with an Angular component, which defines a class that holds that part of the application’s logic or data.Footnote 5
Angular also uses a building block called data binding. There are two primary types of data binding:
Event binding: Helps developers respond to user actions such as keystrokes, mouse movements, clicks, and touches.
Property binding: Helps developers set values for properties of HTML elements or directives. This can be used for things such as toggle button functionality and programmatic pathing.
Angular online course curriculum
In a fundamentals of Angular course, you can expect to learn about how Angular works, how to set up development environments, and typescript in Angular. You may also learn about some of the different applications for the framework and why it is so popular for JavaScript development.
In a more advanced Angular course, the curriculum builds on prior learning and fundamental knowledge, enabling students to develop more complex web applications, components, and interactions.
Angular developer jobs
Individuals with a strong understanding of Angular could be qualified for a variety of different web-based job positions. Angular 2+ is the framework of choice for many sites, and these organizations need experts to maintain, build, and deploy new components. Examples of Angular jobs include:
Software developer
Computer programmer
Front-end engineer
Web application architect
Full-stack engineer
UI engineer
How to become an Angular developer
Angular developers are skilled JavaScript programmers who have practical and theoretical web development skills. They are experts in component building, testing, and deployment.
Individuals interested in becoming an Angular developer may pursue education options such as:
A boot camp that covers a variety of topics, from coding to data analytics.
A bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science. These fields will teach students about data visualization, data management, statistical modeling, machine learning, user experience, and software engineering.
A master’s degree in UI or data science. These curricula will focus on concepts such as data visualization, data management, statistical modeling, machine learning, user experience, and software engineering.
